Family Poems

My father sat me down one night,
He sadly, slowly, said:
'Let's face it kid - you're none too bright,'
And tapped my empty head.
'You're not the sharpest knife,' he cried -
'All foam,' he spoke, 'no beer.
The lights are on,' he said and sighed,
'But no one's home in here.'
'You're dumb as paint, and dense as wood,
And kid, for what it's worth -
You'll have to think of something good
To make it on this Earth.'
He rose and stepped around the bed,
And through the doorway quick.
I shook my head and slowly said:
'My dad's a fucking dick.'

To daddy's deathbed, sad, I roam
To hear him speak to me.
Though years ago I'd left my home
So I could feel free.
My daddy was a fucking dick
He scarred my little mind
By telling me: "you're dumb, you're thick"
It wasn't very kind.
But as I stood there listening
He opened up once more,
"Oh kid, you are my only son,
The child I adore,
I said what I felt must be said
To boys both thin and fat",
He turned his tear-stained eyes from me:
"Goodbye, you fucking twat."

Loggins and Messina The House at Pooh Corner

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon.
Posing our questions to owl and eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon.
But I've wandered much further today than I should
and I can't seeem to find my way back to the wood.

Dire Straits Romeo and Juliet

A lovestruck romeo sings a streetsus serenade
Laying everybody low with me a lovesong that he made
Finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it ?

Kate Bush Wuthering Heights

Ooh, it gets dark! It gets lonely,
On the other side from you.
I pine a lot. I find the lot
Falls through without you.
I'm coming back, love.
Cruel Heathcliff, my one dream,
My only master.
